Salem City Hall doors locked

SALEM — Mayor John Berlin said Tuesday that the front doors to Salem City Hall are now locked. Originally, the front vestibule had been open for people to pick up income tax forms and deposit them in a drop box, with a sign restricting access to just the vestibule, but people still came inside and ended up on the second floor.

He noted that income tax forms are available and can be dropped off at the police department entrance off of Pershing Street, which is open 24/7. There is a secure drop box there and the area is monitored with a security camera. The filing deadline has been extended to July 15. Anyone with questions for any of the offices in city hall can call 330-332-4241.
