COVID cases up, deaths stay the same
LISBON – Columbiana County coronavirus case numbers rose more over the weekend than all of last week, but there were no additional deaths to report.
County heath department public information officer Laura Fauss reported on Monday cases increased by 49 over the weekend, bringing the county total to 1,406.
Of those cases, 920 are inmates of the FCI-Elkton prison. The prison numbers increased by 30 over the weekend. The number of long-term care facility residents remains at 90 cases.
The remaining 19 cases are residents of the general community, bringing the total number of community cases to 396.
The Ohio Department of Health lists Columbiana County with 159 total hospitalizations due to the coronavirus. It is not known how many people are currently in the hospital.
Although the new cases across the state are higher than the 21-day average of 1,015 at 1,261 on Monday, the number has declined from the all-time high number of new cases on Friday of 1,525. There were six deaths reported across the state in the last 24 hours, below the 21-day average of 17. Additionally 73 were reported hospitalized across the state bringing the total to 8,915 since the beginning of the coronavirus.
The Ohio Hospital Association reports 949 people are currently hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19, including 292 in the intensive care unit and 159 on ventilators. Of the 66,853 total cases reported in Ohio, the Ohio Department of Health lists 45,194 as presumed recovered.
