Leetonia to seek levy renewal

LEETONIA — The Leetonia school board this week agreed to seek the renewal of its operating levy in November.

The board approved a resolution to place the issue on the November ballot. The five-year, 4.16-mill levy will generate $350,000 annually for general operations of the district.

First approved by voters in 1991, the levy expires at the end of 2021.

In other business, the board approved a one-year renewal of the services provided by the Nutrition Group for food service management for the 2020-2021 school year. It is the first of four one-year renewals permitted under the contract that was bid and awarded beginning with the 2019-2020 school year.

The board also accepted donation of $176.95 from Columbiana County Prosecutor Robert L. Herron for the DARE Program, $500 from Raedine Hulea for the Football Fund and $250 anonymously for the Perfect Attendance Award Fund; and approved final appropriations for Fiscal Year 2020 at $10,822,721 and temporary appropriations for Fiscal Year 2021 at $10,387,841.
