Local Scout troop to present Eagle awards

Dylan Campanelli

NORTH LIMA – Troop 80, Boy Scouts of America, chartered to Mount Olivet United Church of Christ, is announcing the presentation of the Eagle Scout Award to four local teens.

The court-of-honor ceremony will take place Sunday at Mount Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima. Troop 80 is part of the Stambaugh District, Great Trail Council.

Dylan Michael Campanelli

Dylan Campanelli is the son of Keith and Carrie Campanelli of Canfield. He graduated from South Range High School in 2020 and was an active member of speech, Drama, marching band and track.

Dylan has been involved with scouting since 2007 with pack 116 where he earned the highest award of cub scouts, the Arrow of Light. He joined Troop 80 in 2013 and has held positions of patrol leader, quartermaster and Assistant senior patrol leader.

Luke Gehring

Dylan has camped a total of 34 nights, completed over 30 hours of service projects and has earned a total of 21 merit badges. He has attended four years at Manatoc Scout Reservation. He has also earned the Totin Chit, Firem’n Chip.

For his Eagle Scout Project, he designed, built and distributed four large scale interactive marble maze units with PVC pipes for children at Alta Head Start. These toys were distributed between multiple sites and were designed for preschoolers to use.

Dylan is currently a Freshman at Youngstown State University and is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. He has had a passion for working with kids since he was in high school, therefore his long-term goal is to teach at an elementary school for grades 2-3 after he graduates.

Luke Joseph Gehring

Luke Gehring is the son of Bill and Trinetta Gehring of Canfield. He is a freshman at South Range High School, where he is a member of the high school football and baseball teams. He is also on the academic challenge team and is president of the 2024 class.

Kaleb Sepe

Luke has been involved in scouting since 2013 with Pack 116 where he earned cub scouting’s highest award the Arrow of Light. He joined Troop 80 and has had troop position patrol leader and senior patrol leader.

Luke has camped a total of 85 nights, completed over 250 hours of service projects and has earned a total 21 merit badge. He has attended three years of summer camp at Manatoc Scout Reservation. He has also earned the Totin Chit, Firem’n Chip, NRA awards, Historical Trails Award, Polar Bear Award and Great Trail Council First Class in First Year and is an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow Marnoc Lodge 151.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Luke reviewed handicap fishing dock designs, studied the ADA compliance requirements, purchased materials and supervised and help construct a handicapped fishing platform at On Target Outfitters in Canfield.

Alexander Pierson Kuzior

Alex Kuzior is the son of Ken and Linda Kuzior of Canfield. He is a senior at South Range High School, where he is a member of high school soccer team, ski club, Academic Challenge and on Honor Roll. He is also a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church where he serves as Eucharistic minister.

Alex has been involved in scouting since 2009 with Pack 116 where he earned cub scouting’s highest award the Arrow of Light. He joined Troop 80 in 2014 and has had troop positions of scribe and quartermaster.

Alex has camped a total of 30 nights and has earned a total 21 merit badges. He has attended summer camp at Manatoc Scout Reservation. Also, he has earned the Totin Chit, Firem’n Chip, Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII awards.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Alex coordinated, supplied and supervised the installation of a statue of St. Michael with landscaping at St. Michaels Church in Canfield.

Alex intends to attend college majoring in mathematics in hopes of becoming an actuary.

Kaleb William Sepe

Kaleb Sepe is the son of David and Courtnie Sepe of Boardman. He is a senior at South Range High School, where he has been a member of varsity soccer, varsity track, cross country, marching band, concert band, speech and debate team, drama club, choir and show choir.

Kaleb has been involved in scouting since 2009 beginning with Pack 2 in Poland, and in 2014 where he earned cub scouting’s highest award the Arrow of Light with Pack 114, in Boardman. He joined Troop 60 in Boardman in 2014 and in 2016 he transferred to Troop 80 in North Lima and has had troop positions of patrol leader and chaplain’s aide.

Kaleb has camped a total of 57 nights, completed over 129 hours of service projects and has earned a total 25 merit badges. He has attended two years of summer camp at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation and two years at Manatoc Scout Reservation. He has also earned the Totin Chit, Firem’n Chip, all four Catholic emblems (Light of Christ, Pope Pius XII, Ad Altari Dei and Parvuli Dei) and was elected to the Order of the Arrow in 2017, at Manatoc Scout Reservation.

For his Eagle Scout service project Kaleb coordinated, supplied and supervised the installation of a GAGA Pit at Stadium Drive Elementary School in Boardman.
