New Waterford to open new website next month
NEW WATERFORD — Mayor Shane Patrone announced at Tuesday’s council meeting there will be a new website for the village. The goal is to have the website available by next month.
The village will still post events on the Facebook page due to a majority of residents using Facebook to get local information. Ordinances, regulations and formalities will be posted through the website.
Village leaders chose a company called Selectus Consulting because of its past experience developing pages for county government. New Waterford officials will also have email addresses linked to the website.
In new business, council members discussed holding an event in October that would be directed toward adults. The event would feature local wine makers and brewers, The event would resemble Octoberfest and raise funds for the park. Council gave approval for the event coordinators to seek permits.
There will also be a fishing tournament held on July 4. A local band that will play for two hours as part of the festivities.
There will be a town cleanup on May 17. Most items will be accepted and should be taken to the curb. Tires will be collected on a separate date that will be announced later.
In other business, council approved a one-year contract for fire service with Fairfield Township. The township will pay the village $41,000.
Council also approved agreement to a lease from the Lindsay family, accepting a 5 percent increase per thousand gallons of water. The village gets some of its water from wells at the farm.
Jason Gorby, Village administrator said the holes on roadways will be patched as well as chip and sealed in the next month as weather improves. Gorby also mentioned that operations at the sewage plant were going well.
In other matters council approved an emergency resolution to enter into an agreement with Engineering Associates, Inc. for services regarding replacement of sewer lines and upgrades to the plant.
