Columbiana chamber offering Luau on Main Street Saturday

COLUMBIANA–The Chamber of Commerce looks forward to supporting the community, businesses and neighbors again with Luau on Main Street from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday.

“We’ve kind of switched it up a little bit,” said Renee Durbin, co-chair of Community Connections.

The street from the circle to Spring Street past AAA will have bounce houses, ax throwing, food trucks, music, vendors, games and prizes.

Durbin said there may be hula hoops and face painting.

Food vendors include NEO Pops, Babcia’s Lunch Box and What’s Grandpa Smokin’.

Non-Profits expected are the Dog Park, Tourism Bureau and ADAPT of Columbiana County.

Heidi Dattilio, member of the Chamber of Commerce, said she looks forward to seeing the streets alive with people again and wants local businesses to flourish.

“It’s important for the people as well as the businesses especially the small businesses in our community, it’s time to put life back into the streets and the businesses and people back out shopping and eating and mingling,” Dattilio said.

These events used to be called First Friday’s. In an effort to increase community involvement Dattilio and Durbin changed the name.

“We really want this to be a great event for the community,” Dattilio said.

Dattilio believes the luau will benefit mental health too.

“It’s very important for the well-being of the people as well as the businesses that we start doing that again,” she said.
