EP council waiting to name new member
EAST PALESTINE — Village Council conducted two meetings Monday. A special meeting held with the intentions of choosing a candidate to fill the open council position ended with a decision to wait until after village elections.
Mayor Trent Conaway thanked Jessica Rocco and Thomas Povenski Jr. for attending the meeting and speaking with council members during an executive session.
Finance Officer Traci Spratt introduced online bill pay to village council Monday. After being approached by a software company along with an invoice cloud company Spratt spoke to council members regarding the software allowing residents to pay utility bills online.
“They can have access to the accounts and go to paperless billing,” Spratt remarked.
Village administration workers have been given a demonstration.
The service would charge residents $3.25 for credit card transactions, a one time ACH fee is $1.25, ACH autopay is 50 cents and a pay by phone fee would cost 95 cents.
Because the village does not currently offer availability to pay with credit card Spratt believes the program provides the option at minimal cost and modernizes village billing.
Village Manager Mark McTrustry said scheduled work on the EQ basin is progressing and nearing completion. Fencing is in the process of being completed and the village is waiting on a generator.
“It’s been available for delivery for some time, the struggle is getting it delivered,” McTrustry said.
Disc Golf installation is complete at the park. McTrustry is satisfied with community feedback and the village plans to install a mailbox with maps and scorecards in the spring.
McTrustry considers the disc golf course challenging when compared to other local courses.
