Playground discussed in NW

NEW WATERFORD — Council discussed the New Waterford Beer Wine and Music Festival Tuesday. Volunteers suggested making small changes regarding samples, tickets and some administrative steps next year.

Mayor Shane Patrone estimates the festival raised nearly $20,000. The village plans to pair those funds with grants while working towards replacing playground equipment.

“We hope to keep having the event to build up playground equipment for the kids,” Patrone said.

Village employees have removed an old teeter totter and spring rider animals along with other outdated equipment. Some of the wood used on the playground is creosote coated and no longer up to safety standards.

The village intends on replacing this play structure and installing padding or rubber mulch. Village council would also like work done on the infant playground.
