Toys for Tots kicks off in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana Ford held a kick-off event for Toys for Tots last week.

Felger Exotics helped Santa and reindeer Sven visit with children and encourage parents to donate toward the toy collection. Columbiana Ford Owner Matt Wickliff makes it a tradition to give back to communities each year among his three regionally owned dealerships.

“It’s very important to help every kid that is in need during this time of year,” Parts Manager John Blankenship expressed.

Columbiana Ford will act as a donation site where families can pick up toys along with sponsoring local Toys for Tots families this year.

The dealership is also partnering with Joshua Dixon Middle School to provide additional joy to three local families.

“We are going to be providing additional presents for those children and dinners as well,” Blankenship said.

Blankenship wants to see children get the best Christmas possible especially since the past several years have been particularly challenging due to Covid related hardships.

According to Executive Assistant Kelly Fox, Hogans Bakery donated three boxes of donuts and an additional four cartons of cookies during the kick-off event Friday. Guests are able to enter to win several gift baskets from local businesses including Autozone, Sparkle, White House Fruit Farm and Napa.

Blankenship explained the dealership intends to extend their community contributions by proving quality parts and service, helping provide community needs and awarding sponsorships to youth sports teams.

“Anything we can do to be a part of the community,” he remarked.
