County man held on threats to school

Christian Blymiller

VIENNA — A New Waterford man is being held without bond in Trumbull County jail on charges of inducing panic and making terroristic threats to a Vienna aeronautics school.

Christian Blymiller, 18, of Waterford Road, New Waterford in Columbiana County, appeared before Judge Jeffrey Adler Thursday morning in Girard Municipal Court.

He was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and appear in court again for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Blymiller was booked into the Trumbull County jail about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on charges of inducing panic and making terroristic threats. He was arrested about 90 minutes earlier by Columbiana village police.

The charges are second- and third-degree felonies and carry potential prison terms of up to 15 years.

The incident began when a teacher from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics called Trumbull County 911 shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday

to report a threat was made earlier at the school and a pawn broker in Youngstown reported that a man had picked up a firearm and was headed back to Vienna.

The teacher reported the man threatened to shoot up the school and had purchased an AR 15 and was headed to the school located at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.

According to the 911 report, the nearby air reserve station was notified and all faculty, staff and students were escorted off the school property by 4:10 p.m.

Authorities tried to ping the man’s phone to get his location. Police also tried to contact Blymiller’s parents to see if they could contact him.

According to 911 report, Blymiller agreed to cooperate with authorities, and any guns were locked up in the safe, according to Bylmiller’s father.

The plan was for Blymiller to give himself up to police at a truck stop on state Route 7 in Columbiana, the report states. The weapon was secured as evidence with the help of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the report states.
