Motorcyclist killed in crash identified

UNITY TOWNSHIP — A crash Wednesday night which resulted in the death of 21-year-old motorcyclist Cameron J. Boots, East Palestine, remains under investigation by troopers from the Lisbon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 6:52 p.m. on state Route 165 when a southbound 2016 Dodge Caravan turned left into a private driveway and was struck by a northbound 2005 Suzuki motorcycle operated by Boots, who was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash.

The van driver, Wanda Land, 51, Youngstown, and her 15-year-old female passenger both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported in separate ambulances to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, one by New Waterford EMS and one by East Palestine EMS. Both New Waterford and East Palestine fire departments assisted as the scene.
