Columbiana bureau streamlines WineFest experience

COLUMBIANA — The city’s tourism bureau has made a few minor changes to the annual Wine Festival event to help streamline the experience.

The popular WineFest attracted more than 1,500 people last year and Tourism Bureau Secretary and event committee President Tom Mackall said a similar crowd, or larger, is expected this year as well.

The WineFest is scheduled for 4-9 p.m. June 3 at the Town Center at Firestone Farms.

Mackall said that in order to shorten wait times in lines more wineries were invited to participate this year.

“We are going to have more wineries this time and great entertainment. We hope to have a lot of fun,” he said.

Participating wineries are Deer’s Leap Winery, Greene Eagle Winery, Liebe Wein, Lincoln Way Vineyards, L’uva Bella Winery, Mastropietro Winery, McKim’s Honeyvine & Winery, Sundog Cellars Ciderhouse & Winery and Tipsy Farmer Winery.

Mackall also said the bureau is encouraging people to purchase their tickets online. Those who do purchase online will pay $10 less than at the gate.

Tickets can be purchased at tourcolumbianaohio.org until midnight June 2.

“We want to give everybody a chance to try to order,” Mackall said.

WineFest T-shirts are also available for purchase online.

Tickets for the event are $30 online and $40 at the gate. Tickets can also be purchased at the tourism bureau office at 11 N. Main St. in Columbiana from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The WineFest offers 10 2-ounce pours available from nine northeast Ohio wineries, a commemorative wine glass, food trucks and vendors.

Mackall said that entertainment will be provided by the Mid Life Crisis band from 4 until 6:30 p.m. and the Howard Howell Experience from 6:30 until 9 p.m.
