Goshen Trustees using ARPA funds for repairs
GOSHEN TRUSTEES–The township will be using American Rescue Plan Act funds to cover the costs of an equipment repair.
The township received a repair bill of $10,755.51 for work on its International. Trustees voted unanimously to pay out of the township’s remaining ARPA funds, which must be completely appropriated by the end of the year.
Other financial matters approved included a resolution to participate int he Ohio Co-Operative Purchasing Agreement. The trustees attributed their decision to participate in the agreement, which allows municipalities to obtain favorable pricing on goods and services by participating in state contracts, to a future savings for the township, and designated the Board of Trustees chair, (currently Trustee John Bricker), as the township’s designated agent for the program.
Trustees also discussed potential repairs to the bridge at Bricker Park. Road Foreman Matt Springer said repairs could be completed with $3,500 in materials.
Trustees considered installing a culvert in its place. However it was decided to move forward with repairs to the bridge as residents seem to enjoy the bridge and often take photos there.
Trustee Shawn Mesler spoke with the Mahoning County Engineer Office about the transition from the new paving on Duck Creek Road to residents’ driveways. The township was going to accept the additional expenditure of having a smoother transition. The project cost would remain under the engineer’s estimate following the change.
Mesler has been working with Cardinal Electric to determine what size generator would be appropriate as a backup for the township’s administration building.
Bricker met with Generator Specialists to get an estimate for a backup generator for the administration building. Jason Smith was to review the building’s heating system.
Trustees reminded residents of the annual state-wide burn ban from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. throughout November.
Trustees discussed rescheduling their next regular meeting due to a schedule conflict for Fiscal Officer Michel Barratt, but ultimately decided to maintain their regular date and will meet next 6 p.m. Nov. 12.
