Salem Music Club presenting Choir Festival this Sunday

The Salem Music Study Club is ushering in Advent with its Sixtieth Choir Festival. The event will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1 at the First Methodist Church of Salem, at 244 South Broadway Ave. The festival is open to the public free of charge. A free will offering will be taken with proceeds to benefit the Grace Dyball Scholarships which are given to college junior or senior students majoring in music, and the Lois Frost Piano and Organ Memorial Scholarships for high school aged students. The highlight of the event is the singing of the “Hallelujah Chorus” by the combined choirs. The choirs participating are: Emmanuel Lutheran Church, First Friends Church, Winona Friends Church, Tapestries of Ohio, Village Singers of Lisbon, The Keller Family Singers and Abundant Life Praise. The Sassabrass, a brass quintet, will perform from 2:30 to 3 p.m. with the choir processional to follow.
