Salem Preservation accepting nominations for banner program

SALEM — Salem Preservation announces that one of its most popular community projects has “come of age.” The Historic Reilly Banner Program is now one decade old and still going strong. Eighteen banners annually are displayed along East Pershing Street in front of Sebo Stadium and Reilly School during the athletic seasons. There are now enough Reilly Banners on hand to continually rotate the banners on an annual basis.

The premise of the Historic Reilly Banner program is quite simple. The person being nominated has to have had their life “touched” by Reilly Stadium in some manner. Over the years honorees have been a true cross section of working class Salem Quakers. Not all have graduated from Salem, but have had a profound effect on “Quakerdom.”

The nomination process is quite simple. Join Salem Preservation’s Historic Reilly Banner Project in celebrating those people whose lives have been touched or changed forever because of contact with Reilly Stadium. The deadline for the honored banner class of 2025 is Saturday, March 8.

List the nominee’s name, involvement with Reilly Stadium (sport, music, other activity, event or special circumstance) and a short paragraph about why the person deserves to be honored. Whether submitting by mail or electronically by email, nominators must explain how the nominee’s life was “touched” or “affected” by Reilly Stadium. Send banner nominations to Salem Preservation, P.O. Box 1034 Salem, OH 44460, or schwartzda@earthlink.net (disregard spam-blocker notice).

Starting at $2.99/week.
