Sebring man appeals prison sentence for burglary in Salem
LISBON — A Sebring man filed a notice of appeal Monday to challenge his recent prison sentence for burglary for trespassing in a Salem apartment last year.
Jarred Chestnut, 33, West California Avenue, was sentenced to an indefinite term of two to three years in prison for the charge which was a second-degree felony lesser offense from the original charge of first-degree felony aggravated burglary. A charge of aggravated menacing was dismissed.
Chestnut received credit for 22 days already served in jail.
He was accused of trespassing in a Continental Drive, Salem apartment, threatening the resident with a handgun, grabbing him by the neck and chest and threatening to put him in a trunk and make him disappear on June 20, 2024, a police affidavit said.
His defense attorney, Charley Kidder, filed the notice of appeal with the Seventh District Court of Appeals.
