Informational forum for Salem tax issues set for tonight

SALEM – The city is inviting residents to share their concerns and seek clarifications about the tax issues on the upcoming ballot from city officials in a public forum tonight.

The city’s public forum is set to be held at 6 p.m. in city council chambers prior to the city council’s regular meeting at 7 p.m. The forum is intended to give residents an opportunity to have any questions they have about the renewals of the .25% city income tax for capital improvements specifically to city streets, sidewalks, alleys, curbs, parking lots, and storm sewers and the 1-mill operational levy for the parks department set to be decided on by voters in the upcoming May 6 election. In addition to questions regarding the tax renewals the city is welcoming residents to share their concerns about any issues within the city.

The forum will be attended by city administrators including Mayor Cyndi Baronzzi Dickey and Service Safety Director Joe Cappuzzello and all the city’s department heads including Parks Director Kelli Pastore, Street Foreman Shawn Smith, Police Chief J.T. Panezott, Fire Chief Scott Mason and Utilities Superintendent Butch Donnalley.
