New Waterford employees depart from village

NEW WATERFORD – The village made a few personnel changes recently, with the retirement of Kenny Wilson and resignation of Nick Gates.

In December, village council approved Wilson’s retirement as part-time water plant supervisor and road crew member.

Wilson worked for the village for 10 years.

“He reached retirement age and decided to retire,” Mayor Shane Patrone said.

Council also approved the resignation of Nick Gates as water and sewer operator. Gates is originally from Columbiana and has accepted a similar position with the City of Columbiana, Patrone said.

Gates worked for the village for two years.

“They are both local residents that care greatly about the village and will be missed by the Village of New Waterford. We are happy for them as they move on to their next chapters,” Patrone said.

Also during the meeting council passed a resolution to hire Krista Peddicord as village solicitor.

Peddicord is going into her third year representing the village following the retirement of Walter Newton Jr.

The village contracts one year at a time for the solicitor position and Peddicord’s contract will run through Dec. 31, 2026.

Starting at $2.99/week.
