West Branch High School students excels in PenOhio competition

West Branch High School students competed at the first annual PenOhio writing tournament on Jan. 14. The 20-team tournament was held at the Mandel Center for the Humanities on the Eastern Campus of Cuyahoga Community College. During each of the three rounds of competition, students were challenged to write a creative story on an assigned prompt in 40 minutes. Fourth place was awarded to the varsity writing team of Sarah Jarvis, Valerie Mobley, Addie Morris, Ruchi Patel, Angela Young and Peyton Zamarelli, coached by Kerry Varble . Fifth place was awarded to the junior varsity writing team of Bethany Caruthers, Katie Downs, Amanda Minich, Landon Stitle, Camryn Sutton and Emmi Williams, coached by Tracy Hinkle.
