Salem High School Class of ‘68 celebrates 50-year reunion

SALEM — The Salem High School Class of 1968 celebrated its 50-year class reunion with three days of activities the weekend of July 27. The festivities kicked off with the Friday night mixer at John Kufleitner’s Galleria of Vintage, Classic and Pristine Cars and hosted by partner and classmate Ron Bezeredi. Party hours were 6 to 10 p.m. with 140 in attendance. Music was provided by Wes Anderson and Friend.

Saturday morning activities started with a golf scramble at Westville Golf Course headed up by classmate Shelley Cody Rhodes. Classmates enjoyed a tour at Salem High School at 10 a.m. arranged by classmate Darlene Heineman, assistant to Principal Sean Kirkland. Approximately 40 attended. Classmate Rick Berg hosted and arranged for a tour of the Salem High School Alumni Office from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with approximately 40 in attendance. From 5 to 11 p.m., 105 classmates and 45 guests attended the social hour and buffet at the Salem Golf Club. There was a donation raffle, class meeting and class picture. Each classmate received a CD created by classmate Gary Bielski. A memorial book was compiled by Tom Patton. The evening was complete with three hours of a live band performance by The Main Street Lions.

Classmates attended the Salem Summer Concert Series at Waterworth Park with a performance by The Sensations featuring John Rongo from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Veterans from the class of ’68 raised the American flag while classmates sang the “National Anthem.”
