Success is a family theme with these Sebring graduates

Three family members returned to Sebring McKinley Junior and Senior High School on Sept. 7 and spoke to students as a part of the “All-Star Alumni Series.” From left, David Scarpitti ’74, John Scarpitti ’79, and Dan Scarpitti ’05 talked about why they are proud to have graduated from Sebring Schools. The three men also told students about the lessons teachers taught them that went beyond the classroom, the value of working hard, and the importance of finding a passion in life. “We were hoping to let the students know you don’t have to be the brightest, you just have to work hard, and take advantage of the people who are willing to help you,” said David Scarpitti. “There are people out there that want to help, especially here at Sebring McKinley.” All three men work for Hunter Associates, an investment firm in Salem. They are also active members of their communities. David is a Salem Home Care Advantage board member and a Carl A. Scarpitti Foundation Trustee. John is a Sebring West Branch Community Foundation board member, a Copeland Oaks board member, and a Carl A. Scarpitti Foundation trustee, while Dan is the president of Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the Sebring West Branch Community Foundation treasurer. This was the second “All-Star Alumni Series” event of the school year. (Submitted photo)
