Afternoon R-Weigh group learns about fiber and vegetables

SALEM — A loss of 6 pounds and a gain of 11 pounds was recorded when the R-Weigh Afternoon Group met on Oct. 15 at the First Friends Church on Jennings Avenue. Jo Anne Bogdan called the meeting to order. Welcomed back were Carmella Balevre and Robbin Nelson after a few weeks off. Everyone said the R-Weigh prayer and sang “This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land.” Sylvia Eller gave the treasurer’s report and Sandy McGarr read the minutes from the last meeting on Oct. 8.

Calorie chart winners for group one were Josephine Morris and Joyce Sanders, goalies were Judy Catlett and Bogdan. The can do winners were Rhonda Brown, with Eller and Bogdan, goalies. Nine group one members were in attendance and nine goalies. Good loser was Joyce Sanders, runner up went to Anna Kurtz. Awards went to Joyce Sanders for losing weight over her birthday week.

The program this week was a continuation from last week which was fiber. It was noted that vegetables having a lot of water content are Romaine lettuce, cucumbers, radishes, potatoes, cauliflower and bell peppers. Fruits include watermelon, oranges, apples, strawberries and grapes.
