Columbiana County Board of Elections to meet
LISBON –The Columbiana County Board of Elections will meet in regular session at 1:30 p.m. today in the board office at 7989 Dickey Drive, Suite III.
Tailgate party planned Saturday at Leetonia Legion
LEETONIA — American Legion Joe Williams Post 131 will host a tailgate party on Saturday featuring a bonfire, prizes and food. The public is invited from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Breakfast offered at Salem Masons Saturday
SALEM–A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea. The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.
Banquet in Salem to feature sausage sandwiches
SALEM — The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St. Next week’s sponsor is Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. The menu offers vegetable soup, sweet sausage sandwiches with onions and peppers, roasted potatoes, appleauce, cookies and sundaes. Additional sponsors are needed. Alumni Association to participate in #Giving Tuesday
SALEM — The Salem High School Alumni Association (SHSAA) will participate in #Giving Tuesday on Tuesday. This campaign is a worldwide event when people give generously, particularly to local non-profits and causes within their communities. This will be the fourth year the SHSAA has participated and they are again asking Salem alumni to consider a donation, remembering the alumni association’s scholarship mission on this worldwide day of giving.
The first $1,000 contributed that day to the SHSAA, whether from multiple donors or a single donor, will be matched dollar for dollar by generous partner BOC Water Hydraulics, Todd Olson Class of ’81, president and chief executive officer. Donors are asked to visit the website at salemohioalumni.org or stop in to the office located at 330 E. State St. in downtown Salem.
Salem Music Study Club sets final meeting of year
SALEM– The Salem Music Study Club’s final meeting of the year begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 in the parlor in the Educational Building of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 251 S. Broadway Ave. The club is affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs. This program is a part of American Music Month and will be led by Chairman Sally Bricker of Columbiana, a devoted member, with help from Vice President Mike Newman, and other Salem Music Study Club members. Members will discuss the 57th Festival of Choirs to be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, as well as many musical activities of members around the holiday season. As always, members and guests are welcome to all meetings which will resume in January.
Seats still open for trolley “Light Tour”
SALEM — Seats remain on the Quakertown Trolley for the “Light Tour” of Salem following the Christmas Parade Nov. 29. The tour will load at 8 p.m. at the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce on East State Street for the first tour which will be approximately 35 minutes. Other tours are planned for 8:45 and 9:30 p.m. Call 330-337-6733 to register and leave a message. Your call will be returned. Cost is $3 for adults and $1 for 12 and under. Tours will also be given on Dec. 7, 14 and 20 with times to be announced.
Customer Appreciation Day set at Look Nook
SALEM — The Look Nook at Salem Regional Medical Center is hosting a special Holiday Customer Appreciation Day Open House from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 29. New seasonal decor and apparel will be featured. In addition, all purchases over $20 that day will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a holiday designer fashion cape. A 20 percent discount will be offered off total purchases (some exclusions apply). The gift shop is located on the ground floor concourse of the hospital at 1995 E. State St.
