Mrs. Ken Kaufman host 7&1 Club

SALEM – Members of the Seven and One Club recently met for a Christmas dinner at the Road House in New Middletown. Mrs. Ken Kaufman served as the hostess. After dinner members traveled to her home to play cards. Guests were Mrs. Dave Hanna and Mrs. Tom Mercure, Mrs. Kaufman’s daughter. Prizes in 500 were awarded to Mrs. Hanna, first; Mrs. Larry Dearth, second; Mrs. Fred Weingart, low; and Mrs. Gerald Mincks, travel. A card and gift exchange followed. The hostess served dessert along with homemade cookies and caramels. Unable to attend the festivities was member Joyce Bruderly who has been hospitalized since Nov. 1.

TOPS 777 recognizes weekly winners

SALEM – Linda Evanoff read a “A Christmas Poem” at the Dec. 12 meeting of TOPS Chapter 777.

Recognized were Sue Lotti and Melissa Chaffin, best losers; and Shirley Johns, KOPS of the week.

Monthly winners were Johns, KOPS; Pat Sheen, best loser; Peggy Mix, runner up; Carol Oliver, trooper; Linda Gerace and Johns, KOPS at goal or below for the month. Joann Sanor received a seven-week consecutive weight loss award.

“Leftover Uses” was the title of the program. Debbie Phillips concluded her “Sign in for Santa” contest.

Salem Masons to host breakfast buffet

SALEM- The public is invited to a breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Jan. 26 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea. The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator.

New Year’s Eve dance set in Deerfield

DEERFIELD – A New Year’s Eve dinner dance, sponsored by the Deerfield Historical Society, will be held at the Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 Route 14. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. A buffet meal is open from 7 to 8 p.m. followed by dancing until midnight. Music will be provided by Jerry Cole and the High Plains Drifters. Guests are asked to bring a dish to pass. The entree, beverages, paper products, etc. will be provided. Cost is $15 or $25 per couple. For reservations call Sally Sampson at 330-654-3168. Pre-payment is not necessary.
