DAMASCUS — Damascus United Methodist Church and Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church will host their monthly meeting from 7 to 10:30 a.m. today at the Damascus church, 300 Valley Road. The breakfast features all-you-can-eat, made-to-order pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, juice and coffee. The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10 years. The breakfast proceeds will benefit the upcoming 2019 Summer Mission Trip to Cluster 13 Ministries in Camden, N.Y. Due to continually rising costs of the breakfast, the suggested donation will be increased to $6 for adults and $4 for children under 10 years beginning with the July 20 breakfast.
NORTH LIMA — The North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. May 25. The cost is a donation and the buffet includes eggs, pancakes, French toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade pastries, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and mushrooms, coffee, orange juice and other beverages. SALEM — The Salem Community Foundation Announces Ministerial Scholarship In 2008, a Ministerial Scholarship Fund was established with the Salem Community Foundation. The fund provides scholarship aid to assist persons who will spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This scholarship is extended to those individuals who wish to enter the fields of the Ministry, Christian Education, Youth Ministry or a closely related field. The anonymous donor of the Ministerial Scholarship recognizes the financial impact of a career in the ministry. It is the wish of the donor to support those individuals who display a sincere desire to dedicate their life to a career path as defined by the guidelines of the scholarship. The Ministerial Scholarship is valid at undergraduate and graduate schools as well as Bible Colleges. Applicants must submit indication of financial need, academic performance, reference letters and a personal statement. The Ministerial Scholarship does not discriminate on the basis of religious denomination, age, sex, gender or geography. 4KNOX TOWNSHIP –The Knox Township 2019 Vacation Bible School will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 25, 26 and 27 at the Reading Church of the Brethren, 25418 Georgetown Road, Homeworth. A light supper will be served daily at 5:30 p.m. for children going into kindergarten through completion of fifth grade. Early registration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each day May 18 through June 8 in the lobby of the church to answer any questions, view the facility and make known any special needs or dietary restrictions of the child. The five churches which sponsor VBS annually are Bethel United Church of Christ, Emmanuel Lutheran Church of North Georgetown, First Brethren Church of North Georgetown, Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian Church and Reading Church of the Brethren. SALEM — The Salvation Army has openings for both boys and girls, ages 6 to 12 years old to attend Camp NEOSA from June 26 to July 1. The camp is located in Carroll County, in the Atwood Lake area on Leesville Lake, and is free to lower income families. All children going to camp must have a current physical. Children with diabetes are not permitted to attend. Children with asthma may attend if an asthma medical review and medical release is completed. The camp’s purpose is to serve the physical, social and spiritual needs of campers. The camp provides an opportunity for each camper to contribute to and benefit from a group living experience. Camp NEOSA is a unique setting operated by the Salvation Army. It consists of a 2,000-acre peninsula on the 1,000-acre Leesville Lake. The camp’s facilities include a large lake for swimming and boating, zip line, rope concourse, pioneer village, hiking trails, beach volleyball, basketball courts, soccer fields, crafts, fellowship hall, campfire circle and chapel in the trees.
