‘Mamma Mia’ auditions extended to Saturday

SALEM — Auditions have been extended for “Mamma Mia” at Salem Community Theatre, with a final date of 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Ages needed for the show are 14 and up. Prepare a one-minute section or a song of choice. No accompanist will be provided. Prepare an a cappella number or use a phone without the voices.

Show dates are Sept. 20 to 29, directed by Jon Bielski.

Lesson on Google Earth, Maps offered at Library

SALEM — Technology instructor Kathy Bennett will present at step-by-step lesson in Google Earth and Google Maps from 4 to 5 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Salem Public Library.

Google Earth is a free program from Google and the program gives the ability to virtually travel the globe and view the earth through high-resolution graphics and satellite images. Google Maps provides navigation, lightweight mapping power and points of interest. Using both tools provides a clearer understanding of the location of study.

The class is provided through a Guiding Ohio Online grant made by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the State Library of Ohio.

Salem Library to host ceramic tile program

SALEM — The Salem Public Library will host a class to recycle and give new life to ceramic tiles for adults from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12 in the Quaker Room.

All materials will be provided and the program is free of cost to attend and open to the public.

Bass fishing tournament planned at Salem Reservoir

SALEM– The Salem Parks & Recreation Department will host a bass fishing tournament from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Salem City Lake (Salem Reservoir). Entry fee is $25 (includes lunch) and cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places. Leetonia church plans school supply giveaway

LEETONIA–The Leetonia First United Methodist Church, 50 Lisbon St., will once again have a school supply giveaway for students in the Leetonia School System, from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 8. Students need to be accompanied by a parent and present a report card or other proof that they are enrolled in the Leetonia School System.
