Salem Quaker City Band to perform

The Salem Quaker City Band will present its final concert of the season at 7 p.m. Friday at Waterworth Memorial Park as part of the Salem Summer Concert Series. The theme of the concert is “The Terrific Trombone” featuring trombone soloist Jonathan Willis playing an Arthur Pryor favorite, “The Blue Bells of Scotland.” Willis is a freelance trombonist, music arranger and custom marching band drill designer from the Cleveland area. The band will also play a ballad, “The Wishing Well,” in memory of Robert Domencetti, director of Salem Quaker City Band from 2006 to 2011. Harborfields School District in Greenlawn, N.Y., commissioned Rossano Galante to compose this as a tribute to Mr. Domencetti. Bob is a 1955 Salem High School graduate and retired from Harborfields School District where he was Band Director and Director of Music until his retirement in 1999. Admission is free. Tickets will be sold for a 50/50 drawing and prizes donated by local businesses. Attendees are reminded to bring lawn chairs. A food vendor will be available to purchase food and soft drinks. Enter Waterworth Memorial Park at the corner of North Lincoln Avenue and Sunset Boulevard. For information call the Salem Parks and Recreation Department at 330-271-8913. (Submitted photo)
