Salem Eagles plan events
SALEM-The Salem Eagles will hold their club membership picnic at 3 p.m. Aug. 17 for members and their families. Eating will begin at 5 p.m. Guests are asked to bring a coverdish and the club will furnish the meat, water, children’s drinks and condiments. Games will be available for everyone. There will also be hourly drawings and music by J.T. Teis at 7 p.m.
The Salem Eagles will also hold a craft night featuing “Etch Your Own Glass” from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $10 with all supplies furnished. The event is open to the public and reservations are due by Aug. 25 by visiting the event page on the club’s Facebook. For information call 330-337-8053.
WR Knitting Guild to meet
CANFIELD-The Western Reserve Knitting Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Rotary Community Building in Fair Park. This month’s planned program is a mosaic knit hat. For pattern instructions refer to the Western Reserve Knitting Guild’s Cable Gram or Ravelry page. All unsold tickets, sold ticket stubs and collected money for the sale of the afghan raffle are due at this meeting. The winner of the afghan will be drawn at this time (the winner need not be present). Dues of $20 are due this time to be included in the WRKG directory. Youngstown film festival slated
YOUNGSTOWN-The Youngstown Independent Film Festival presented by No Label Productions will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. Oct. 12 at Cinemark Tinseltown of Boardman. No Label Productions is a film production company owned by former Youngstown native and South Range High School graduate, John Martin Jr. Tickets will go on sale on Sept. 1. Anyone can submit a film project to the festival by visiting https://filmfreeway.com/YoungstownIndependentFilmFestival-1. Film projects of all genres are being accepted in both the feature film and short film categories. The submission deadline is Sept. 12.
Updates will be posted on the festival website at https://www.nolabelproductions.tv/youngstown-independent-film-festiva and on the festival’s Facebook page.
The festival will consist of finalists selected by judges. These film selections will be shown on the big screen at a scheduled time during the festival and there will be an awards ceremony immediately following.
