Mahoning County library programs planned
YOUNGSTOWN — The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County has announced several events at its branches for September.
— Line Dance classes will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4 and 25 at Canfield Library. Line dances are very easy to learn, mainly because the steps are straightforward, and you do not have to coordinate your movements with a partner. Line dances also involve repeating series of steps, so if you get lost, you can easily catch up with the rest of the class. This class will combine low, moderate and high energy line dance routines and will help you burn calories at the same time. To register, call 330-744-8636 or register online using the events calendar. For adults.
— Grab & Go Craft for September: Make a craft to take home. For children of all ages. During library hours at the Canfield and Sebring libraries.
— Fold Me a Story: Learn to fold a sheet of paper into an eight-page miniature book. Use your imagination to write and illustrate a book to take home and read to your family. For children of all ages. During library hours at Greenford Library.
— Kindergarten Readiness Stations are in every PLYMC library branch and feature fun activities for you and your preschool child to complete together. This month, stations focus on Motor Development, which is part of the Physical Well-Being and Motor Development domain of early learning. The stations include activities that help develop gross and fine motor skills. Gross motor skills are movements of large muscles like legs and arms and include balance and coordination. Fine motor skills are movements of small muscles like the fingers and wrist and include touch, grasp, reach and manipulate.
