Banquet in Salem to feature meatloaf

SALEM–The Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building will be sponsored by Brenda and David. The menu will include meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cole slaw, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and dessert. For information call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169.

Wellness, craft expo set at Blossom

SALEM–Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, FirstLight Home Care, Myers Family Insurance, The Hometown Pharmacy, Capital Senior Living and Community Hospice will present the “2nd Annual Hearts and Arts Wellness and Craft Expo” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 6 at Salem First Friends Church, 1028 Jennings Ave. All proceeds from the Expo will remain locally in the community and be used to benefit the Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) Foundation, which raises funds to support patient care at SRMC.

The Expo is open to the public and will bring together area health care providers and community organizations to offer resources and information. In addition, the following free health screenings will be provided:

– Pulse Oximetry by Salem Home Medical

– Blood Pressure by Kent State Nursing Students

– Grip Strength by SRMC Rehabilitation Services

Those attending the Expo will also have the opportunity to hear presentations by SRMC-affiliated physicians, including:

– Michael J. Sevilla, M.D., “Fall Health Tips”

– Peter L. Apicella, M.D., “Screening to Detect Cancer Early”

– Joseph J. Rousher, D.O., Exercise and Your Health

While admission to the Expo is free, attendees can also start their holiday shopping at the event by purchasing handmade crafts and seasonal items from up to 40 local craft vendors. Gift basket raffles will also be provided, and refreshments will be available for purchase at the event. In addition, the first 200 attendees will receive a free lunch voucher to enjoy a catered lunch at the event.

The Salem Regional Medical Center Foundation raises funds to support patient services and programs at SRMC, with 100 percent of all proceeds used to benefit area patients.
