Ghost Trolley Tour information corrected
SALEM–The Salem Historical Society is corrected previous information it released regarding the Salem Ghost Trolley Tour 2019 season.
The first tour is 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. The tour takes people out of the downtown area to cemeteries and other “haunted” areas around Salem. There are three occasions that riders do exit the trolley and walk around, so wearing good walking shoes is encouraged. The cost of the trolley ride is $15.
The tour leaves from The Dale Shaffer Research Library meeting room, 239 S. Lundy Ave. Reservations are required. Call 330-205-3923 and leave a message of interest.
Library tech class to explain ridesharing services
SALEM–Learn how to use the ridesharing services Uber and Lyft at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 5 in the Salem Public Library Quaker Room.
The tech class will be taught by technology instructor Kathy Bennett.
Seating is limited and registration is required. Register online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or call the library for registration assistance at 330-332-0042. The class is provided through a Guiding Ohio Online grant made by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the State Library of Ohio.
Mike Webb & the Webbettes highlight at fundraiser
SALEM– Mike Webb & the Webbettes will be highlighted at a unique benefit fundraiser for the McCulloch Park Renovation & Restoration project of Salem Preservation from 7 to 11 p.m. Sept. 7 at Liebe Wein Winery, 530 E. State St.
The evening begins with a mix and mingle social with entertainment to follow. Refreshments and food will be available. There will also be a Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing.

Cancer support group to meet monthly at hospital
SALEM–Community members facing the challenges of a cancer journey can gain encouragement and understanding of this disease during a free support group hosted by University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Salem Regional Medical Center.
Beginning Sept. 18, the cancer support group will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. one Wednesday evening a month at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC). The group is open to anyone in the community coping with a cancer diagnosis, whether receiving care at SRMC or another facility. Sessions will be led by SRMC’s licensed oncology social worker, and will offer education and emotional support for people with any type of cancer.
The group’s first monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Additional meeting dates include Oct. 16, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11 in 2019; and Jan. 8 and Feb. 5 in 2020.
The cancer support group will be held in SRMC’s Oncology Conference Room, located inside the Cancer & Infusion Center on the hospital’s second floor.
