Balsa Bees plan Piper Cub fly-in Saturday

ALLIANCE– The Alliance Balsa Bees will present their Fifth Annual Piper Club Fly-in from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the northeast end of Barber Airport, four miles north of Alliance off state Route 225.

There will be various size of Piper Cub with wing spans ranging from 12 inches to 15 feet. They will be powered by electric and gas.

All planes will be lined up on the field at noon so visitors can have a closer look and ask the pilots questions. Visitors will be able to vote for their favorite plane. Tickets will be given to spectators when they arrive. Planes will be numbers and attendees will be able to write their favorite on the ticket. A trophy will be awarded to the pilot of the winning aircraft.

For spectator safety, red, white and blue flags will mark off restricted areas. Food and drink may be purchased at the Crash & Burn Grill. Restrooms are available.
