Beaver Creek Wildlife Center October events
EAST LIVERPOOL — The Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center has announced its October events.
Programs are offered free of charge, but donations are always appreciated. Visit beavercreekwildlife.org or follow their Facebook page.
— Oct. 5 and 6 is the final weekend for the Wildlife Education Center to be open for this season. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note the extended hours and stop in for a visit. Visitors can also visit some of the volunteers at the table display during Pioneer Days in Beaver Creek State Park.
— Join geologist and Wildlife Center volunteer Cheryl Mattevi in the classroom of the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center for a brief introduction to the geology of Beaver Creek State Park from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 12. The group will break for lunch and then take a hike along Little Beaver Creek to look at the rock formations that are so important to the geology of the area. Participants should bring a lunch, wear comfortable shoes and bring insect repellent. Participants are welcome to bring their own rock, mineral or fossil specimens in for identification. This program is for age 10 and older.
— Join Naturalist Richelle for a moderately difficult hike on the Dogwood trail to enjoy the fall colors and observe fall birds and animals from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 19. Sturdy shoes and insect repellent are recommended. Dress for the weather. Meet at the main parking lot in the park.
