SALEM – The Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) Auxiliary recently funded the purchase of a new step machine to benefit patients receiving outpatient rehabilitation therapy at SRMC.

Valued at $2,500, the new equipment will be used to help patients improve their strength and mobility following an injury, surgery or other condition. The purchase was made possible through the Auxiliary’s recent donation of $9,700 to the hospital, which reflects proceeds generated by Auxiliary fundraisers and SRMC’s Look Nook Gift Shop during the past year.

The Auxiliary will kick off its 85th year of service on Thursday by welcoming SRMC President/CEO Dr. Anita Hackstedde as the featured speaker at its first meeting. Dr. Hackstedde will provide an update about recent advancements at SRMC over the past year.

Auxiliary meetings are held the second Thursday of the month in SRMC’s Private Dining Room on the hospital’s ground floor. The monthly meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. and include a business session, guest speaker and refreshments, with other special events scheduled throughout the year. For information on joining the Auxiliary or volunteering at the hospital, call Amy Reed, SRMC Director of Development, at 330-337-2883 or email volunteerservices@salemregional.com.
