Friends of the Banquet to sponsor Thursday meal

SALEM– Friends of the Banquet will sponsor the Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Building. The menu will include pizza, green beans, tossed salad, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and ice cream sundaes.

Salem Masons to host breakfast buffet Saturday

SALEM — The public is invited to a breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea. A handicap accessible elevator is available.

Calvary United Methodist selling apple dumplings

NORTH LIMA– Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., will have Homemade Apple Dumplings for sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be either frozen or baked available. Cost is $3.25 each. Call the church office to order at 330-549-2588 or just stop by and pickup some.

United Jr./Sr. High Fall Pops Concert set Sunday

HANOVERTON– The Annual Choir Fall Pops Concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the United Local Auditorium will include the Junior High Choir, Touch of Gold Junior High Show Choir, High School Mixed Chorus, High School Show Choir Flight and High School Concert Choir. Admission is free, but the annual basket raffle will be held.

Dessert Auction slated at Winona church Sunday

WINONA– Winona United Methodist Church will hold a Dessert Auction at 12:30 p.m. Sunday featuring volunteer auctioneer Evan Gallo. Homemade pies, cakes and others desserts will be on display prior to the auction so bidders can plan out their strategy to snag some of the desserts from local home bakers. Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted. The proceeds will support WUMC’s youth ministry leadership team as they travel to Tampa this fall for the National Youth Workers Conference for four days of workshops and training. The leadership team is led by Christine Martin, youth director at Winona, and dedicated volunteers Brian Martin, Jason McDevitt, Emily Crowell, and Jason and Jennifer Young.

Alchemy Acres to hold spaghetti dinner fundraiser

SALEM– Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary will host a Spaghetti Dinner from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Salem Eagles Club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at 330-332-4897. The cost is $8 per ticket and children under 5 years are not charged. The meal includes spaghetti with meatballs, salad or applesauce, fresh Italian bread, coffee, tea or lemonade and a dessert. The event will feature a Chinese Auction with a great selection of baskets and gift certificates. A 50/50 raffle will also take place. In addition, there will be a Bake Sale with gourmet items. Carryout dinners may be purchased by calling 330-337-8817.

Salem Rotary Pancake Day scheduled for Nov. 3

SALEM– The Salem Rotary Club will host its 59th Annual Pancake Day from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 3 in the Salem High School Cafeteria, 1200 E. Sixth St. A Chinese Auction will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The breakfast will include all the pancakes you can eat, sausage and eggs. Cost is $7 for adults $5 for children under 10 years. The event benefits Rotary Club projects.
