GOSHEN TOWNSHIP– East Goshen Friends Church, 16800 South Range Road, Beloit, will hold its Messy Church group meeting featuring the theme “Sinking Fears!” from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Messy Church is an all age worship experience that explores God’s love in an accessible way. At Messy Church today’s busy households of all shapes and sizes are invited into a welcoming space to experience faith. Messy Church meets once a month. Everyone is welcomed as they are. Messy Church features activities, crafts and games that bring the month’s biblical story to life, followed a short celebration with an interactive bible story, music and prayer. Each Messy Church concludes with a meal.
SALEM — Salem Bible Methodist Church, 1647 N. Ellsworth Ave., Salem will be hosting 2019 Homecoming at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 20 with a pitch-in dinner at the Salem Community Center. COLUMBIANA — Columbiana First United Methodist Church will be hosting a “Happy Halloween Party” from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31. The public is welcome to attend.
CARROLLTON — The Carrollton Bible Chapel will host “The Port City Quartet” from Wilmington, NC in a concert scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19. Two food items are requested for admission to be donated to the Bible Chapel’s Loafs and Fishes program. The public is invited to attend. NORTH LIMA — Calvary United Methodist Church will be selling homemade apple dumplings this month. The dumplings are available baked or frozen at $3.25 each. Orders are due by Oct. 20. Pickup is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 26. Call the church office at 330-549-2588 to place an order, leave name, phone number and order.
COLUMBIANA — Italian Feast 2019 will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19 at St. Jude Activity Center, 180 Seventh St. Cost is $20 per person. There will be a homemade Italian banquet, music and dancing, raffles, and cash wine and beer. Adult event for persons 18 years and over. Tickets are available at the church office, 330-482-2351. A table for eight may be reserved – prepaid only. Tickets available at the door while they last. Seating is limited. Proceeds to benefit St. Jude and Our Lady of Lourdes parishes.
SALEM — Salem First Friends Church is bringing back its Christmas With Friends Craft Show. The show is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 16. The church is currently looking for vendors and crafters who want to showcase their businesses and sell their wares. COLUMBIANA — The Oasis Food Ministry will be holding a food distribution from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 24 at First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St. Anyone 60 or older may come from 1 to 2 p.m. Oct. 24.
SALEM — First United Methodist Church of Salem, 244 S. Broadway Ave. will hold a Fall Fundraising Dinner of roast pork with caramel apple sauce, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, salad and pumpkin dessert by Chef Dave Peterson from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 19. Cost is $12 for adults and $8 for children. There will also be a fall centerpiece auction, $5 bargain table and a carved pumpkin contest for children 12 years and under. Already carved pumpkins should be registered between 2 and 3:30 p.m. The proceeds from the event will go toward the stained glass window restoration project. Over the past century the wood framing has weakened and needs restored. The original windows were install in 1910 by Rossbach Art Glass Works of Columbus, Ohio, which was active from circa 1908 through World War II, with a regional reputation for neo-Gothic windows.
NORTH LIMA — The North Lima Mennonite Church will have its annual fall auction at 6 p.m., Oct. 23.
The fundraiser will be conducted by Baer Auctioneer Service and involve all new merchandize, produce, home-bake items, home-canned goods, themed baskets and gift certificates. A food stand offering sandwiches, pie, snacks and beverages will open at 4:30 p.m. For additional information call the church at 330-549-2333.
NORTH LIMA — Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., will host Octoberfest from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 13. The menu will include bratwurst sandwiches and platters, Bavarian kraut, hot pretzels and beer cheese, spaetzle, haluski and hot apple dumplings. NEW GARDEN — The New Garden United Methodist Church, 7165 state Route 9, will be hosting its three-day annual large fall rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 19, which will also be the $4 bag day. There will be a bake sale and lunch for purchase featuring homemade soups, sandwiches, pies, coffee and pop.
