Calcutta shop to host disability awareness event
CALCUTTA — Have another cup of coffee … the Reach 4 More program has scheduled a second free coffee event for disability employment awareness, this time at the Green Marble Coffee Shoppe in Calcutta on Friday, Dec. 6.
A Reach 4 More ceramic mug and the coffee in it, regular or decaffeinated, will be free of charge from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Green Marble, according to Shirley Bowald.
Bowald is employment development manager of Reach 4 More, a disability employment program of the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Reach 4 More employment development specialists will be on hand that morning at Green Marble, 15549 Route 170, to meet people and discuss advantages of hiring the disabled.
Bowald thanked Barb DeCort, owner of the Green Marble, for hosting the event.
“Caring business owners like Barb help us get out the word that people with disabilities can make very good employees,” said Bowald. “They want very much to have jobs, enjoy the dignity of work and a paycheck, and be a contributing part of their communities.”
Green Marble is a breakfast and brunch restaurant offering delicious coffee beverages, fresh pastries, a rainbow of breakfast choices (fruit and yogurt parfait, French toast, breakfast panini, herb scrambled eggs) and a variety of homemade soups and sandwiches, from favorites such as the Cuban and the Ruben, to adventurous combinations like the apricot bacon grilled cheese.
“Where else can I get a gouda and chorizo omelet with a serving of fresh fruit, the best wheat bread I’ve ever had and two mini-muffins?” one fan stated in a review post.
The Green Marble opens at 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday, 7 on Sunday, and closes at 2 p.m., except on Fridays, when it is open to 8 p.m.
This is the second free coffee event sponsored by Reach 4 More. The first was held recently at the Generations Cafe in Columbiana.
Bowald said business owners and managers interested in learning the advantages of hiring those with disabilities can contact Reach 4 More at its Lisbon office through the main CCBDD phone line, 330-870-4272.
