Winona Ruritans hold November meeting

WINONA – The Winona Ruritan Club met Nov. 12 at the Winona Methodist Church. President Rob Doyle Jr. called the meeting to order and led the group in singing “America.” Vice President Homer Althouse gave the invocation. The ladies of the church prepared and served a dinner featuring roast pork. Everyone in attendance gave a round of applause in appreciation.

Secretary Lee Stamp called the roll of members and asked members to introduce their guests when their name was called. A total of 26 members were present with six guests. The guests were all veterans of the U.S. Military.

Stamp read the minutes of the October meeting and the November Board of Directors meeting. Treasurer Bob Doyle Sr. gave the October financial report. Homer Althouse reported there was about 15 pounds of sausage patties to sell to finalize the Oct. 12 pancake and sausage breakfast. Greg Coffee announced that there were 15 tickets available to buy for the Henry Big Boy rifle and the Tauras Judge handgun. The winner of the gun raffle was Mat Stamp and the second place winner was Paul Williams. Both tickets were drawn by military veterans, both grandsons of Donovan Winn.

Lee Stamp reported that he attended the Ohio District Fall Convention on Nov. 9 in Alliance at the First Friends Church. Stamp reported a few changes have been made to the 2020 member roster and will be available for the December meeting. The menu for the December meeting has been given to the cook so that a cost can be determined and the entertainment has been scheduled.

Doyle Sr. led the group in singing “Happy Birthday” to Rob Donaldson, the only club member born in November. Doyle Sr. asked club members if they had additional children or grandchildren to add to the list of 2020 graduate scholarships; the club currently has five – Jenna Althouse, Garrett Coffee, Dylan Judy, Ethan McDevitt and Ethan Stamp.

Greg Coffee volunteered to be the club’s song leader and a member of the Calling Committee.

No other business came before the club. Everyone present rose and pledged allegiance to the Flag of the United State of America.
