Comedy, magic of Eric Thompson coming to Sebring

Eric Thompson

SEBRING–The Jupiter Magic Theater, 800 S. 15th St., will host The Comedy & Magic of Eric Thompson on Thursday, Jan. 9. The family friendly show begins with several magicians performing close-up magic at 5 p.m. followed by a full stage show featuring The Comedy & Magic of Eric Thompson at 7 p.m. Tickets for the show will be available at the door for $5.

For four decades The Comedy & Magic of Eric Thompson has performed in comedy clubs, theaters, churches and community centers across the United States and in more than two dozen countries around the world. He has shared the stage with Jay Leno, Engelbert Humperdinck, Kenny Loggins, Pauly Shore, Sinbad, Andrew “Dice” Clay, Gallagher, David Brenner, Drew Carey and hundreds more.

Beginning in the early 1980s, Eric Thompson began performing in comedy clubs and talent competitions in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Soon he was the regular opening act for many big name talents of stage and screen. His razor sharp wit, improvisational style coupled with amazing magic talent leaves audience laughing hysterically and bewildered by his seemingly impossible magic tricks.

In the 1990s Eric Thompson began performing his award winning show internationally. His “Million Miles Million Smiles” Tour has taken him to some of the farthest reaches of the world. Performing in Cuba, Guatemala, Peru, West Africa and China saw Eric expand his outreach to the poorest, most oppressed places on earth.

Thompson purchases food and mating pairs of chickens for many audience members in his foreign shows so they can not only be entertained by an American professional but also leave with a full stomach and a way to feed their families for generations to come.

During his live shows Thompson often shares humorous and poignant stories from his experiences of traveling. When traveling overseas, he usually shuns hotels, choosing instead to live with families and locals in the remote villages in which he performs. He has lived with families in mud huts, orphanages, churches and hospitals during his tours through five continents.

His highly acclaimed video “Eric Thompson Live!” is available for purchase at his shows. The proceeds of his performance videos go to pay for his foreign aid program.
