WB freshmen win app challenge
MARIETTA — U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson this week announced the winning entry of Ohio’s 6th Congressional District App Challenge is once again from West Branch High School.
The freshmen team of Jocelyn Carte and Jakob Williamson submitted the top entry in the challenge.
“The pair’s app, The School Experience, is intended to instill moral and character values in young children through an interactive, fun, and educational game. It was very creative and well done,” Johnson said.
Johnson hosted the 6th District Congressional App Challenge to give middle school and high school students an opportunity to practice coding and computer science skills. The winning app will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the next year.

This marks the second year that a student under the direction of McKenzie Wallace at West Branch High School submitted the winning app. Last year, Cassie Madison and her app, The Dysulator, was selected as the top entry.
