Kindergarten registration set at West Branch
BELOIT– Kindergarten registration for the 2020-21 school year will be held March 19 and 20 by appointment only. Registration will take place at the West Branch High School in the Library.
Any child who is 5 years of age on or before Sept. 30, 2020 and resides within the West Branch School District is eligible for Kindergarten. Call the Superintendent’s Office at 330-938-9324 to schedule an appointment.
Those who are a non-resident and planning to apply for open enrollment will also need to schedule an appointment for registration. Open enrollment applications will be available at the registration appointment for Kindergarten only. To be eligible for open enrollment a child will need to be 5 years of age by the date set by their district of residence. Contact the Superintendent’s Office in the resident district to confirm that date.
The following items will be required at registration: birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, custody/court papers (if applicable) and two forms of proof of residency (utility bill, lease/purchase agreement, driver’s license, bank statement). The district will also need to copy a form of ID of the person who is registering their child. Only the custodial parent/guardian can register a child for Kindergarten.
Registration will not be complete until all required forms are provided.
West Branch Preschool Screening plannned
BELOIT– Preschool Screening for the 2020-21 school year will be held March 13 and 20 by appointment only. Preschool Screening will be held at the West Branch Middle School.
Any child who is 3 or 4 years of age on or before Sept. 30, 2020 and resides within the West Branch School District is eligible to schedule a screening appointment. Students must attend one of the preschool screening days in March to be considered for preschool. Enrollment is based on screening results. Call the Superintendent’s Office at 330-938-9324 to schedule an appointment.

Mullins School ALumni Banquet scheduled
SALEM– The Alumni Association of Hannah E. Mullins School of Practical Nursing will hold an Alumni Banquet for past and present student nurses at 5:30 p.m. April 18 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. There is plenty of parking on-site and the banquet will be a buffet-style meal with coffee, decaf coffee and water provided. Those attending may also bring their drink of choice. A silent auction will be held as well. The cost for the meal will be $30 per person and $50 per couple. A check made out to Hannah Mullins Alumni will serve as a reservation. Send checks to 230 N. Round, Square Dance set at Rogers Sale
ROGERS–A Round and Square Dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Rogers Sale Dining Hall. Admission is $5. The Country Squares will provide music and John Hively will be the caller. Farmer’s Pride 4-H Club will provide a lunch stand.
Stage Left Youth Players to stage 48 Hours
LISBON– Stage Left Youth Players will create theatre in 48 Hours Feb. 28 and 29 at the Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way in downtown Lisbon. Resident artistic director Kandace Cleland is registering teams of six to eight youth, grades seven to12 to write, direct, rehearse and perform 10- to 12-minute sketches during the intense 48 hour process. There is a $10 registration fee per person and the deadline to register is Friday. Youth will sign up as individuals and then be randomly placed on a team. CAA taking applications for heating aid
LISBON– Community Action Agency of Columbiana County (CAA) will be taking applications for the Winter Crisis Program now through March 31 at 7860 Lincole Place (Lower Level). Appointments can be made by calling the automated scheduling system at 844-493-1198. Homebound individuals and seniors 60 years and older may call 330-424-4013 for appointment assistance.
A limited number of walk-ins will be seen starting at 8 am on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Thursday, with scheduled appointments beginning at 9 am. More walk-in appointments will be seen on Fridays.
Applications for State HEAP can be completed through March 31. Applications are available at post offices, libraries, and utility companies throughout Columbiana County. These applications must be mailed directly to the address listed on the application. Additional information also can be found at www.energyhelp.ohio.gov or by calling toll-free at 800-282-0880. Those willing to enroll on the PIPP Plus payment plan for the first time must apply in person.
Winter Crisis applications can be started but cannot be completed online. All Winter Crisis applicants must have a face-to-face interview with an adult household member, 18 years of age or older. For information contact 330-424-4013. The HEAP office will be closed Feb. 17 to observe the holiday.
Damascus Fire Department offers CPR classes
GOSHEN TWP. — The Damascus Fire Department is willing to offer free CPR classes for township residents and is gauging the interest for such a class. Any township resident interested in attending a CPR class is asked to call the township administration office at 330-332-1235
