Banquet in Salem to feature lasagna, salad
SALEM– The South Range Boys Basketball team will sponsor the Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include soup, lasagna, salad, applesauce, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and cupcakes. For information call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169.
Soil district to host erodible land workshop
SALEM– The Columbiana Soil & Water Conservation District will host a highly erodible land and wetland compliance workshop for farmers in Columbiana County and the surrounding area from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 25 at the Salem Hills Golf Club, 12588 S. Salem-Warren Road. Topics will include the steps needed to farm and conserve this highly erodible land, farming alongside of wetlands, and how to go about updating a conservation plan. Presenters will be from the Columbiana Soil & Water Conservation District, the USDA Farm Service Agency and the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service. Winter hike planned at Beaver Creek State Park
EAST LIVERPOOL– Beaver Creek State Park will host a 2-mile winter hike at 10 a.m., Saturday beginning at the Trading Post in Pioneer Village. Homemade hot soups at Red Barn will follow. For information call 330-853-9960.
Stitches in Time set at Salem Library
SALEM– The Salem Public Library will hold its Stitches in Time meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Quaker Room. Community members are encouraged to bring knitting, crocheting or other similar type of project to work on. This get-together is open to the public and free of cost to attend. West Branch BOE to meet in executive session
BELOIT– The West Branch school board will meet at 5 p.m. Feb. 19 in the high school west wing conference room to enter an executive session to discuss personnel. No action will be taken.
Leetonia BOE to discuss school calendar
LEETONIA– The Leetonia school board will meet at 6 p.m. Feb. 20 in Room 20 of the K-12 campus. The meeting will include public input on the 2020-2021 school year calendar.
Canfield Library to host LEGO robot event
CANFIELD – The Canfield Library will host FIRST LEGO League Jr. at 6 p.m. March 3. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is back at the library. This season, FIRST has teamed up with Star Wars for the Boomtown Build Challenge. They will use LEGO WeDo 2.0 to build and program a robot while researching a real-world problem and creating a Show Me poster to display our team’s work. Available spots are very limited and age range is strictly for children ages 6 to 10 (per FIRST LEGO League Jr. rules). Children should be able to attend most weekly meetings.
