CANFIELD – At the January meeting of Canfield American Legion Post 177, Appreciation Plaques were presented to Sam Pitzulo (Pitzulo Homes & Remodeling) and Dave Centofanti and Mark Graham (James & Coralie Centofanti Charitable Foundation) in recognition of their generous contributions to the post’s flagpole project. At the February Post meeting, a third plaque was also presented to Kathleen Johnson, Molly Johnson and Nils Peter Johnson (Nils and Janet Johnson Foundation) for their generous contribution to the project. The 60-foot flagpole will be erected on the north end of The Green in Spring 2020.

Also at the February meeting, the post recognized members of local law enforcement and first responders for their outstanding contribution and commitment to the Canfield community. This year’s recipients of Legion Certificates of Achievement were Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper John L. Lamm (recommended by OSHP Canfield Post Commander Lt. Brad Bucey); Canfield Police Sgt. Scott Bennett and Dispatcher Jenny Wright (recommended by Canfield Police Chief Chuck Colucci); and Cardinal Joint Fire District Deputy Chief Matt Rarick and Captain Troy Kolar (recommended by CJFD Chief Don Hutchison).
