St. Paul Math Night at Giant Eagle

St. Paul School held a Math Night at the Salem Giant Eagle on March 4. Students used the aisles of Giant Eagle to solve real world math problems. Students, families from St. Paul School and customers visiting the store were offered grade-specific challenges to complete utilizing items sold in the store. Kindergarteners were asked to find products in various shapes and count the number of customers in certain aisles. Sixth graders were asked to determine ratios and cost effectiveness of buying hamburger by the pound versus ten pounds. The annual event is utilized to demonstrate the many ways in which math is used in everyday life. Shown here, Andrea Beltempo and her son Kaiden searched the aisles to find answers for the preschool challenge. (Submitted photo)
