SALEM — Shop owner Jennifer Brown’s love for downtown Salem and God telling her “such a time as this” led her to open a new business, “A Touch of Gracious Living” at 435 E. State St. in downtown Salem.

Brown said she is honored to promote downtown Salem as it is the perfect floral shop setting. She said small towns are in and she is hopeful that her unique shop with beautiful eye-catching window displays will create foot traffic in downtown Salem. Brown has 35 years of floral design experience working in Michigan and New York. She specializes in fresh and silk floral arrangements for weddings and funerals. Her inventory includes local products, lanterns, luminara candles, caddies with herbs, cloche and garden decor.

Brown has been Co-Chairman on the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee for 10 years and has taken the lead in caring for the downtown flowers, Christmas greenery, and fall cornstalks. She also is part of the Salem Preservation Society and Downtown Salem Partnership. She offered thanks to Geoff and Kim Goll and the Salem community for their support.

“Jen’s Paint Cellar”, owned by Jen Walter, has its own space inside “A Touch of Gracious Living”. The paint cellar offers DIY paint classes, private parties, creative workshops and the upcycle and refurbishing of furniture. Chalk country paint and finishes can be purchased at the paint cellar.

For now due to the coronavirus, the store is closed, but orders will be accepted at 234-575-0068. Once open, store hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. Stop in to shop and meet the store dogs Annie and Lola. (Submitted material)
