YOUNGSTOWN – The Honors College at Youngstown State University has recognized several students as part of the Honors Student of the Week initiative for spring semester 2020.

Honorees include: Jaycie Watt and Jenna Guthrie, both of Salem

Watt was part of the executive team for Guinathon, YSU’s Dance Marathon, which raises funds and awareness year-round for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley. Each February, an eight-hour dance marathon is held where students play games, listen to miracle families’ stories, and celebrate all of the hard work done throughout the year. This year, they were able to raise more than $60,000 for the kids.

The college launched the Honors Student of the Week program earlier this academic year to recognize academic excellence, community engagement and student success. The Honors Student of the Week is announced each Sunday in the college’s weekly e-newsletter sent to Honors College students, staff and faculty and also posted on the YSU website. There are currently 1,266 students in the college.
