Diversity officer position created

YOUNGSTOWN – Mahoning County Children Services is seeking candidates for a new, full-time Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer position.

“This new position reflects Mahoning County Children Services Board’s on-going commitment to seamlessly implement diversity, equality, and inclusion into every area of the organization. This position will serve as the catalyst ensuring advancements in diversity, equity and inclusion are made as well as quantifiable and visible outcomes are attained,” said Dr. Joseph L. Mosca, Chairman, Mahoning County Children Services Board.

The successful candidate will proactively lead the development and implementation of internal and external initiatives contained in the agency’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan and have an in-depth knowledge of human resources administration practices, including recruitment, selection, employment laws, and all relevant state and federal regulations related to EEO programs and basic labor relations principles.

Churches to host food drive-thru

COLUMBIANA– In place of their annual church festival which was canceled this year, St. Jude and Our Lady of Lourdes will hold a drive-thru food festival featuring festival food: cavatelli, sausage sandwich, meatball sandwich, fish sandwich, and fries. The event will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8 at St. Jude, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana.

Brookdale to host Nutrition Session

SALEM– Brookdale Salem will host a Nutrition Session at 5 p.m. Aug. 6. The facility’s dietitian will share the five key items one should include in daily meals, healthy eating tips and portion sizes. The right foods can make a huge difference. RSVP at 330-337-9096.

Salem church to sponsor Banquet

SALEM– The Salem United Methodist Church will sponsor the Drive-Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include subs, baked beans, pasta salad, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and cookies. For information call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169. South Range BOE to meet Aug. 4

CANFIELD– The South Range school board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 4 in the K-12 campus auditorium to discuss re-entry planning and hold an executive session to consider personnel and the possible sale or purchase of property. The meeting will be conducted virtually and livestreamed on the South Range website. Community members may send questions and comments through a link on the website until 3 p.m. Aug. 3.

Springfield Township to clean up

Springfield Township’s cleanup day is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Waste Management on Garfield Road will be open for drop-offs. There is no charge. Not being accepted are items with freon, tires, batteries, standing liquids, yard waste, TVs or E-scrap.
