Parkinson’s Support Group canceled

SALEM– The Parkinson’s Support Group that meets at Emmanuel Lutheran Church has been canceled until September.

Salem VFW to host food truck, music

SALEM– VFW Post 892, 496 Arch St., will host the MJB bbq food truck and acoustic music from 2 p.m. until dusk Saturday. The event is open to the public and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Bring a chair for the outdoor entertainment.

Historical Society, gift shop open

SALEM– The Salem Historical Society Museum and Gift Shop be open from 1 to 4 p.m. and by appointment each Sunday through Oct. 25. The last tour begins at 3:30 p.m.

This year’s featured exhibit, Suffrage Centennial, is celebrating the passage of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. The exhibit covers activities and people associated with the battle to gain the right to vote for women in the United States. Artifacts highlight Ohioans who contributed to the cause and historic events held in the Buckeye State, especially Salem. Women’s clothing from 1850 to 1920 is featured.

Admission is $6 for adults 18 and older and $3 for children ages 5-17. Members and children under 3 are admitted free. The gift shop, located at 239 S. Lundy Ave., will also be open with featured publications of the ‘women’s rights’ efforts. Patrons must wear masks. Cotton gloves will be provided and must be worn while on the museum tour. The entrance and parking for Museum tours is at 208 S. Broadway Ave.
