Salem library offers genealogy program

SALEM– Salem Public Library will host the genealogy program “Finding Your Way Through Family Search” via Zoom from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 27. Genealogist Chris Staats will guide participants through the finer points of using the web-based genealogy tool, “Family Search.”

The program is open to the public and free of cost to attend. Registration is required and an email address must be provided in order to receive connection information for Zoom. Register online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or call the library at 330-332-0042 for registration assistance.

Staats is a Cleveland-based professional genealogical researcher, presenter and writer. He has written articles for Family Tree Magazine, Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly and other publications. He has also given presentations covering methodology, resources, technology and other topics at genealogical societies and libraries across Ohio. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, chapter representative for the Great Lakes APG chapter and Seminar Chairperson for the Western Reserve Historical Society’s Genealogical Committee.
