West Branch Lady Ruritans hold annual picnic, award this year’s scholarship

NORTH GEORGETOWN- The West Branch Area Ladies Ruritan Club held its annual picnic with members only July 20 in the fellowship hall of The Brethren Church in North Georgetown.

Bev Yaggi gave the prayer. President Robin Mayer asked Viola  Blanchard to lead the group in the “Pledge of Allegiance” and singing “God Bless America.”

Mayer asked Sandy Bates to read the minutes and Mary Bell Metzgar to read the treasurer’s report.

The club selected Jacob Bates, grandson of John and Bev Yaggi, to receive the “Build Your Dollar” scholarship award this year. He graduated from North Canton Hoover High School and will attend Cedarville University to study Engineering.

The Zone 6 meeting will be Sept. 18 at Goshen Center. The Zone 6 Steak Fry will be Sept. 22.

The club’s next meeting will be Aug. 17.
